The most common was 30% green umber in the 18th century, which gives a distinct limestone-gray shade. In the 19th century, fashion lightened, and the \"white\" paint often settled around 15% green umber. It adheres well to both new surfaces and old previously painted surfaces, and works in both dry and damp environments.
