Allmoge byggnadsvård began when Jenny and Jocke fell in love with the 1860s farmstead Eljasas in Bränno, Malax. The place itself has a very special feel with three outbuildings that together form a sheltered courtyard, a wild garden with two fields, and a fantastic farmhouse from another era.

The idea of having a building preservation shop started to grow several years ago when we bought an old school where we live today. During that renovation, we repeatedly came to the same realization: what works best in an (old) house is to use proven methods and materials that allow the house to breathe. And we always try to reuse as much as we can.
So when we opened the door to the carpentry workshop, we both felt that it would be perfect for a small, cozy building preservation shop. With us, you can buy building preservation products in our webshop or in our physical store (hopefully in the summer of 2026, first we need to do some renovating). In the store, you will also find second-hand treasures, and we are planning a pop-up café when the Finnish weather permits.
We will also offer courses in building preservation, and you can contact Jocke when something needs "prackas med" (meaning repaired, built, or perhaps 3D-printed).

In the future, our dream is to create a recycling center and save materials from old houses that are to be demolished (so if you are thinking of demolishing, contact us first!). We also want to build a network for building preservation in Ostrobothnia (and why not all of Finland). We are happy to help you find the right person for your construction project and find answers to all your questions about building preservation.
We have a thousand dreams and ideas. But most of all, we wish you welcome to Eljasas.
Here you can read a blog post about the history of Eljasas.
