Yellow ocher is a pigment with a classic golden yellow color. Natural Yellow Ocher comes from France and is entirely made from the finest earth pigment imaginable, also known as French Gold Ocher.

Natural clay pigments consist of clays that have been washed and bleached by nature itself over millennia and are produced today in the same way as they were centuries ago, and they are both muted and vibrant at the same time. A linseed oil paint pigmented with genuine earth pigments adds an extra dimension to the painted surface. Yellow ocher is a classic golden yellow color that has been used continuously for almost 300 years as an unbroken outdoor door and window paint. It has the same warmth as oak and has been used precisely to create the illusion of oak. It is also common in mixtures with white, giving a manor house yellow color (30 – 10% yellow ocher). NOTE! The color reproduction on the screen does not 100% match reality.

Our linseed oil paint Yellow Ocher was replaced in 2017 with linseed oil paint Natural Yellow Ocher. If you want the same shade as previous mixes of our former yellow ocher color, you should mix according to the table below when mixing with Natural Yellow Ocher:

60% Yellow Ocher = 80% Natural Yellow Ocher

30% Yellow Ocher = 60% Natural Yellow Ocher

15% Yellow Ocher = 30% Natural Yellow Ocher

Gysinge's linseed oil paint is produced in our own factory from boiled cold-pressed linseed oil and pigments, without the addition of solvents.

The paint is semi-matte and suitable for painting both indoors and outdoors on wood, sheet metal, and iron. It adheres well to both new surfaces and old previously painted surfaces, and works in both dry and humid environments. When freshly painted, the paint is glossy but will turn semi-matte after a few weeks, depending on weather and substrate.

Outdoors, the surface becomes matte primarily in south-facing positions where UV radiation breaks down the linseed oil, which can cause the color to lighten slightly, especially on dark colors.

Repainting is only needed after 8–15 years, depending on exposure. Linseed oil paint works equally well on new and old surfaces, and the patina that develops gives a natural and beautiful character.

Usage: Indoors, outdoors.

Coverage: 12-15 sqm/liter.

Drying time: Indoors – dries after one day, re-coatable after two. Outdoors – dries after approx. two days, re-coatable after three.
