Polishing brush

This is a handmade brush from Iris Hantverk that is perfect for polishing egg oil tempera.

It is advisable to polish the paint on surfaces that are frequently touched or exposed to a lot of wear. When you polish egg oil tempera, you get a shinier surface that is easier to wipe clean and more dirt-repellent. Wait about 1-3 weeks after the last coat to polish, once the paint surface has oxidized properly and feels hard and doesn't chalk.

For larger areas, a soft scrubbing brush with a handle or a polishing machine may be easier/faster. After polishing, the paint will have a darker shade and a satin to glossy finish, depending on the color and how vigorously you polish.

You can also choose not to polish the paint, in which case it will become naturally polished over time in areas that are frequently wiped or walked on. Such a naturally worn paint surface creates an old-fashioned patina.
