Ultramarine Blue (Gysinge)

Ultramarine blue is an intense blue pigment in a classic shade often seen on doors around the Mediterranean. Our Ultramarine Blue linseed oil paint has become particularly popular for details such as windows and doors, often in combination with iron vitriol grey walls. It can also be mixed with white for a softer expression. Fades in sunlight. NOTE! The color reproduction on screen is not 100% accurate to reality.

Gysinge's linseed oil paint is manufactured in our own factory using boiled cold-pressed linseed oil and pigments, without the addition of solvents.

The paint has a semi-matte finish and is suitable for painting both indoors and outdoors on wood, sheet metal, and iron. It adheres well to both new and old previously painted surfaces, and works in both dry and humid environments. When freshly painted, the color is glossy but will mattify to a semi-matte finish after a few weeks, depending on weather and substrate.

Outdoors, the surface will primarily mattify in south-facing positions where UV radiation breaks down the linseed oil, which can cause the color to lighten slightly, especially on dark shades.

Repainting is only needed after 8–15 years, depending on exposure. Linseed oil paint works equally well on new and old surfaces, and the patina that develops gives a natural and beautiful character.

Usage: Indoors, outdoors.

Coverage: 12-15 sqm/liter.

Drying time: Indoors – dries after one day, recoatable after two. Outdoors – dries after approx. two days, recoatable after three.
