Graphite is particularly suitable for painting iron and sheet metal. The pigment consists of a greasy mineral carbon that is also used as a lubricant and in lead pencils. Surfaces painted with Graphite linseed oil paint get a beautiful, slightly shimmering luster. On bare iron outdoors, first prime with our red lead for rust protection.
Example: A painted sheet metal roof is heavily exposed to UV light, ice, and snow, which leads to rapid degradation of the linseed oil that binds the paint together. If the roof is painted with Graphite, the fatty pigment holds the paint surface together in a fantastic way, and the roof remains beautiful year after year.
You can, of course, also paint with Graphite on wood and other substrates.
Keep in mind that Graphite rubs off slightly when rubbed, so choose to paint on surfaces where this is not a problem.
