Linseed oil paint green umber 2%

Linseed Oil Paint Green Umber 2% is a ready-mixed, classic warm white linseed oil paint with green umber mixed with white. This color was particularly popular in the early 1900s for painting windows, woodwork, and facades. NOTE! The color reproduction on the screen does not 100% match reality.

When painting corner boards and architraves on wooden houses from the 18th to the 20th century, it is good to know that the degree of tinting of the white paint varied greatly during different eras. The most common was 30% green umber in the 18th century, which gives a distinct limestone-gray shade. In the 19th century, fashion lightened, and the "white" paint often settled around 15% green umber. Around the turn of the 20th century, however, a light, soft white was the height of fashion, corresponding to 2% green umber.

Gysinge's linseed oil paint is manufactured in our own factory from boiled cold-pressed linseed oil and pigments, without the addition of solvents.

The paint is semi-matt and suitable for painting both indoors and outdoors on wood, sheet metal, and iron. It adheres well to both new surfaces and old previously painted surfaces, and works in both dry and damp environments. When newly painted, the paint is glossy but will become semi-matt after a few weeks, depending on the weather and surface.

Outdoors, the surface will primarily dull in south-facing locations where UV radiation breaks down the linseed oil, which may cause the paint to lighten slightly, especially on darker colors.

Repainting is only needed after 8–15 years, depending on exposure. The linseed oil paint works equally well on new and old surfaces, and the patina that develops gives a natural and beautiful character.
