Graphite is particularly suitable for painting iron and sheet metal. The pigment consists of a fatty mineral carbon that is also used as a lubricant and for pencils. Surfaces painted with Graphite linseed oil paint get a beautiful, slightly shimmering luster. For bare iron outdoors, first prime with our iron red lead as rust protection.
Example: A painted sheet metal roof is heavily exposed to UV light, ice and snow, which leads to a rapid degradation of the linseed oil that binds the paint. If the roof is then painted with Graphite, the fatty pigment holds the paint surface together in an amazing way, and the roof stays beautiful year after year.
Of course, you can also paint with Graphite on wood and other substrates.
Keep in mind that Graphite can rub off a bit when rubbed, so choose to paint on surfaces where this is not an issue.
